Ontario Supporting Community and Front-line Agencies in Huron – Bruce

Funding will help agencies in Huron-Bruce continue to deliver vital services to individuals and families in need

HURON – BRUCE —The Ontario government is increasing support to community agencies so they can continue to support individuals and families across the province.

In total, Huron-Bruce will be receiving $807,450.57 in funding for the following agencies:

  • Women’s Shelter, Second Stage Housing and Counselling Services of Huron
  • Women’s House Serving Bruce and Grey
  • Community Living Central Huron
  • Community Living South Huron
  • Huron Perth Public Health
  • Huron Safe Homes for Youth
  • Huron-Perth Centre for Children and Youth
  • Victim Services Huron Perth
  • Victim Services Bruce Grey
  • Community Living Wingham and District
  • Community Living Kincardine and District
  • Community Living Walkerton and District
  • Grey Bruce Public Health
  • YMCA of Owen Sound Grey Bruce

“Our local agencies make our communities stronger, more resilient and inclusive. They work hard to provide people with access to the right resources and services they need to succeed and thrive,” said Lisa Thompson, MPP for Huron-Bruce. “By strengthening support to our local community agencies, we are helping them deliver critical services to people in need,” Thompson added. “Across Huron-Bruce, we are fortunate to have agencies that are thoughtfully looking for the best approaches to serve our communities”.

As part of the2024 Budget:Building a Better Ontario, the Ontario government is providing $310 million over three years to address increasing operational costs for community organizations that support vulnerable populations. This includes children in care and those with special needs, people with a developmental disability, people who have experienced gender‐based violence and survivors of human trafficking.

“Community agencies provide many front-line services to vulnerable Ontarians,” said Michael Parsa, Minister of Children, Community and Social Services. “Our government is pleased to invest in hundreds of agencies across the province so they can continue supporting those who need it most in their communities.”

  • Developmental services agencies provide vital community-based services and supportive living supports to help adults with a developmental disability fully participate in their communities and live more independently.
  • Children’s treatment centres and rehabilitation service agencies provide early intervention and specialized services, such as clinical assessments, speech-language pathology, physiotherapy and occupational therapy, to improve outcomes for children and youth with special needs and their families.
  • Ontario offers a range of services and supports to people experiencing or at risk of gender-based violence through community agencies and providers, such as emergency shelters, counselling, 24-hour crisis lines, transitional and housing supports and specialized anti-human trafficking services.
