In Ontario nearly $15 million has been invested in critical infrastructure upgrades at community healthcare facilities across the province
HURON COUNTY — The Ontario government is investing $570,053 between 2026 and 2028 to complete upgrades and repairs at the Canadian Mental Health Association Huron Perth – Addiction and Mental Health Services, creating a safer, more comfortable space for people and their families to connect to care and services, close to home. This funding is part of Ontario’s broader investment of nearly $15 million through the Community Infrastructure Renewal Fund (CIRF) to support infrastructure upgrades, maintenance and repairs at 67 community health service providers across the province.
“Investing in community healthcare infrastructure is an investment in the people who depend on these services every day,” said Lisa Thompson, MPP for Huron-Bruce. “By supporting important upgrades at the Canadian Mental Health Association Huron-Perth – Addiction and Mental Health Services, we are helping create a safer, more accessible space where individuals and families in Huron County can receive the care they need, when they need it most.”
The Community Infrastructure Renewal Fund enables healthcare system partners to address their urgent infrastructure needs including upgrading or replacing roofs, windows, security systems, fire alarms and emergency generators. Since 2018, the Ontario government has doubled its investment through the Community Infrastructure Renewal Fund, allowing more community-based health service providers to repair and modernize their infrastructure and preserve their operational capacity.
“Our government is making historic investments to protect Ontario’s healthcare system, ensuring that more people in Huron and Perth counties can connect to the care they need, where and when they need it,” said Sylvia Jones, Deputy Premier and Minister of Health. “This investment will enable the Canadian Mental Health Association Huron Perth – Addiction and Mental Health Services to address priority infrastructure needs so patients and their families can continue to access vital services and care in their community.”
Over the next 10 years, Ontario is investing approximately $64 billion in major health infrastructure. This is part of the government’s plan to get shovels in the ground on more than 50 major hospital projects across the province, which will deliver approximately 3,000 new hospital beds to enhance access to quality care and build a connected, people-first healthcare system.
