Ontario Investing $8,130,053 in Public Safety, Emergency Services and Community Infrastructure in Bruce County

BRUCE COUNTY — The Ontario government is continuing to strengthen public safety, emergency response services, and community living infrastructure in Bruce County through the province’s Mental Health Supports for Public Safety Personnel program (MHS4PSP), the Land Ambulance Service Grant, Fire Protection Grant, and the Partner Facility Renewal Grant.

Mental Health Supports for Public Safety Personnel (MHS4PSP) Program
The County of Bruce will receive $25,000 through the Mental Health Supports for Public Safety Personnel (MHS4PSP) program to help protect the mental health and well-being of frontline emergency personnel.
Land Ambulance Service Grant
In addition, the County of Bruce will receive $7,957,930 through the Land Ambulance Service Grant to support the delivery of timely and reliable paramedic services across the region.
Fire Protection Grant
The Municipality of Brockton will receive $36,223.56 through the Fire Protection Grant to enhance firefighter safety and emergency response capacity. Funding will support the construction of an addition to the Elmwood Fire Hall, including a dedicated decontamination laundry room and proper shower facilities. The grant will also fund the purchase of a Solo Rescue SCBA decontamination washer for the Walkerton Fire Hall, helping to reduce firefighters’ exposure to harmful contaminants.
Partner Facility Renewal Grant
Community Living Walkerton and District will receive $116,900 through the Partner Facility Renewal Grant to complete critical infrastructure improvements that enhance safety, accessibility and reliability for residents. Funding will support the replacement of the roof and eavestrough, replacing flooring in a bathroom and bedroom, replacing the flooring in the main entrance and bedrooms, installation of commercial flooring in the kitchen and dining room, installation of two generators, installation of an accessibility ramp, replacing the floor on the main level, installation of a furnace and air purification system, and repairing of foundation leaks.
These investments reflect Ontario’s ongoing commitment to supporting frontline responders, strengthening local emergency services, and ensuring community organizations have safe, modern facilities to serve residents.
