HURON COUNTY — Communities and organizations across Huron County are receiving $610,807 in provincial investments through Ontario’s Community Emergency Preparedness Grant (CEPG), Fire Protection Grant, Mental Health Supports for Public Safety Personnel (MHS4PSP) Program, Mobile Crisis Response Team (MCRT) Enhancement Grant, and 2026 Experience Ontario Program.
“Protecting our communities starts with ensuring our frontline responders, municipalities, and community organizations have the tools and resources they need to keep residents safe and supported,” said Lisa Thompson, MPP for Huron-Bruce. “These investments will strengthen emergency preparedness, improve firefighter health and safety, support mental health initiatives for public safety personnel, and enhance the ability of local organizations to bring communities together through events and celebrations. I’m very pleased to see communities across Huron County continue to receive support that will make a meaningful difference both today and into the future.”
Community Emergency Preparedness Grant (CEPG)
The Municipality of Morris-Turnberry will receive $32,390 through the Community Emergency Preparedness Grant to purchase four Mobile Emergency Road Closed Trailers to support safe and efficient traffic control during emergencies including winter storms, flooding, tornadoes, fires, motor vehicle collisions, chemical spills, and other hazards.
The Municipality of Central Huron will receive $44,690 through the Community Emergency Preparedness Grant to upgrade radio communication equipment for first responders and improve emergency preparedness capabilities during severe weather events and other emergencies.
The Town of Goderich will receive $48,711.36 to strengthen emergency preparedness through the purchase of a drone, portable digital signage, and a digital notification and alerting system to improve situational awareness and public communication during emergencies.
Fire Protection Grant
The Township of Howick will receive $16,800 through the Fire Protection Grant to support the purchase of a gear washer with an automatic soap dispenser, spare gloves and hoods, Tyvek suits, masks, wireless access points for station Wi-Fi, and overhaul and containment equipment for Lithium-Ion battery incidents.
The Municipality of Huron East will receive $52,821.07 through the Fire Protection Grant to purchase three battery-powered portable decontamination fans, six mini gas detectors, nine sets of turnout gear, six pails of firefighting foam for Lithium-Ion incidents, three Wi-Fi printers for the station, and support third party cleaning of turnout gear.
The Town of Goderich will receive $15,980 through the Fire Protection Grant to purchase and utilize an in-house bunker gear dryer for the Goderich Fire Department, helping ensure personal protective equipment for volunteer firefighters can be properly cleaned and dried.
The Municipality of Bluewater will receive $69,418.58 through the Fire Protection Grant to purchase an insulated decontamination trailer and cancer prevention personal protective equipment, including firefighting gloves and PFAS particulate blocking hoods.
Mental Health Supports for Public Safety Personnel (MHS4PSP) Program
The County of Huron will receive $25,000 through the Mental Health and Public Safety Supports for Public Safety Personnel Program for emergency health services.
The Town of Goderich will receive $25,000 through the Mental Health Supports for Public Safety Personnel Program for fire services.
Mobile Crisis Response Team (MCRT) Enhancement Grant
The Huron County OPP will receive $240,000 over two years through the Mobile Crisis Response Team Enhancement Grant, in partnership with the Huron Perth Healthcare Alliance and the Municipality of South Huron, to support their Collaboratively Enhancing Community Mental Health Initiative.
2026 Experience Ontario Program
The Town of Goderich will receive $19,996 for the Goderich Salt & Harvest Festival, while the Christmas in Bayfield Committee will receive $20,000 to support holiday celebrations and tourism initiatives in the community.

- The CEPG supports small to medium-sized municipalities, local service boards, First Nations communities, Tribal Councils and Indigenous service organizations. Since the program launched in 2023, the province has invested $15 million to provide 342 recipients with grants.
- Earlier in the year of 2025, our government announced that we are doubling the investment in the Fire Protection Grant – from $10 million in its first year to $20 million in year two.
- For 2025-26 and 2026-27, 36 police services and OPP detachments will receive approximately $9 million through the MCRT Enhancement Grant to increase the capacity of mobile crisis response teams across the province.
- The Ontario government is investing more than $20 million in 396 festivals and events across the province this year. Delivered through Experience Ontario 2026, this investment is the largest in three years and will support the greatest number of festivals and events strengthening tourism and supporting local economies while celebrating the people, places and traditions that make Ontario unique.
