Statement from MPP Thompson on Funding for Hospital Infrastructure Upgrades
The following is a statement from Huron-Bruce MPP Lisa Thompson regarding the announcement today that hospitals in Huron-Bruce will be receiving funding through the Hospital Infrastructure Renewal Fund (HIRF):
“I’m pleased to hear that local hospitals in Huron-Bruce are benefitting from today’s announcement. The much needed infrastructure investment is good news for the Huron County communities of Seaforth, Clinton and Exeter. The South Bruce Grey Health Centre (SBGHC) is receiving $2.7 million for infrastructure upgrades and renovations for the hospitals in Kincardine, Walkerton, Chesley and Durham.”
“This will help ensure residents can continue to have access to quality healthcare – close to home,” added Thompson.
“Today’s funding announcement will help ensure that our local hospitals’ infrastructure goals-including electrical, elevator and boiler upgrades- are realized.”
“I would also like to be exact in saying the infrastructure upgardes specifically in the Kincardine hospital hopefully bode well for the community in terms of achieving final support for their redevelopment plans of the facility.”
“Minister Hoskins recognized my efforts in this regard this year during his remarks at ROMA, and I will continue to work on behalf of the residents of Huron-Bruce to ensure that they receive the healthcare services they need in a timely fashion.”
