MPP Thompson Congratulates Saugeen Community on Hospital Fundraising Efforts
Queen’s Park – Yesterday afternoon, Lisa Thompson, MPP for Huron-Bruce, stood in the Legislature to recognize the fundraising efforts of the community in Saugeen Shores to redevelop the Emergency and Laboratory departments at the Southampton Memorial Hospital.
“Though the challenge put before them was enormous, I wasn’t surprised by the dedication shown by the entire community to keep health care close to home,” said Thompson.
Earlier this year, Tony Sheard, Fundraising Chair of the Saugeen Memorial Hospital Foundation, announced that the campaign was approximately $150,000 away from hitting its local target of $2.9 million.
Thompson also used the opportunity to highlight the need for a major hospital redevelopment in Kincardine.
“While I am glad to see the success in Southampton, I know the fight for good local healthcare is far from over. Kincardine is still awaiting the realization of the 2011 commitment made by the current government, and I will continue to advocate for all local healthcare needs until they are met”.
